Music at candlelight. Concert at candlelight at Oradea Fortress.

 Music can open ideas, internal worlds, feelings.

In the darkness, at candlelight melodies awake differently than during daylight, with an increasing beauty and in the spirit of the instrument under the fingers of the performer. Classical music is the best “instruction” for us to understand ourselves, to process everyday happenings. During every moment of our existence we can meet something that we can rediscover through this music, in this state at candlelight. In the dark, while closing our eyes, sounds find their way even to the deepest parts of our souls – they lead a very long lasting empowerment of the soul.

According to ancient Chinese philosophy music is the gift of Heaven, its principles spring out from the laws of the world and can influence people with extraordinary powers. This performance is a show that can affect the spirit, the sense of beauty through exceptional powers. By using piano in the dark at candlelight the magic happens. Imagine a dark space, where on the piano two candles are burning and around it a few hundred of candles. Nearly a thousand candles burning in the same place. Not many have the courage to play the piano in the dark – because it is an undertaking of high-risk.

Zoltán Thurzó’s way of playing the piano is characterized by unique elegance, he is able to transmit the transcendental states of music to his audience even in the dark, at candlelight. People, up to a certain limit, identify themselves with what they heard. The presenter presents the life of the respective composer in an interactive way, different interesting things concerning the circumstances of birth of the works that will resound, adding an extra touch to the performance by using historical facts, through presenting the world of the contemporary halls, besides presenting the associated era, contemporary stories, historical parallelisms, but also through the related gossips. He often engages organically his audience even during the show, which always arises good mood of those present at the performance.

Thurzó Zoltán created a new genre that became his emblem. Certainly, it is an extra that requires preparation that is completely different from the ‘traditional` individual concerts. At his concerts he wants to bring music closer to his audience not only through his performance, but also the captivating and colourful stories of musical history. In the history of Oradea Fortress piano sound could be heard for the first time on the 6^th of October 2015. An unusual afernoon piano concert that though it started in the afternoon at 18 o’clock (when outside there was still full sunshine), between the respectful walls of the church in the dark a unique atmosphere of night time had been created, as in its uniqueness so in its atmosphere.

Chopin’s timeless songs resounded at the light of 933 candles, whereas each and every candle represented each of the 933 years history of Oradea city up to the year of 2015. The light of the 933 years in one single place. It is very special to listen to magical artworks written for piano at candlelight, and it invites each and every visitor to an internal trip.
